Team work!

On challenging days I am reminded how important team work is in the surrogacy process.  There are many levels of team work and they each are critical in making a successful outcome.  I think of the team as a pyramid.  Each level must be strong enough to support the next level.  The base is the intended parents, their relationship is the foundation and the most important.  If the intended parent is single, then their support network is their team.  The next layer is the agency and it is crucial for the intended parents to know they can trust and rely on their coordinator.  The third layer is the surrogate.  This layer is so important and it is the responsibility of coordinator to make sure the IPs and their surrogate have a strong working relationship.  Of course there are doctors, lawyers, escrow agents, family and friends on top of that.  As challenging as it can be to build a strong foundation, I see the rewards and benefits every day.  I would much rather put in the hard work and make sure that it is the right fit, then see it tumble down later.
